Using THE BASIC ROAMER6©to plot and give a precise location is very easy, for example, please see below, which shows THE BASIC ROAMER6© in the correct position to show map reference 7281/46281/4, using Ordnance Surbey, Landranger map 175 or 186. With the map open and laid flat, to expose the bottom LEFT hand corner of map 175 or the top LEFT hand corner of map 186, find the vertical grid line 72 and the parallel grid line 62, place THE BASIC ROAMER6© onto the map, using the 1:50,000 scale, as shown in the diagram, with the top RIGHT hand corner where the vertical line 72 joins the parallel line 62. Now move the THE BASIC ROAMER6© along towards the right (eastwards = Easting) to a point which is 81/4 tenths from the gridline 72, this will give you the first part of the reference 7281/4, maintain this part of the plot, by holding the THE BASIC ROAMER6©, flat against the map, now slide it gently towards the top of the grid square (northwards = northing) to a point which is 81/4 tenths from the gridline 62, this will give you the complete map reference 7281/46281/4, which is the main entrance building and shop at the entrance to THE WELLINGTON COUNTRY PARK.
Because the 1:25,000 scale Ordnance Survey, Pathfinder maps can show greater detail, it is possible to show by map reference, opposing ends of the same building, using the same method for plotting as in paragraph 1 and looking at diagram 2 on page one of this leaflet. For example, on map/sheet 1188SU 66/76 the reference for the South Westerley corner is 72881/262821/4 which could be shown as 728825628225, where as the reference for the North Easterly corner of the same building is 72891/26285, which can also be shown as 728950628500, which is the approximately 40yds or 36.5 metres away, the other scales and information on THE BASIC ROAMER6© are self explanatory.
