Races take place at permanent venues, using
a mixture of surfaced and off-road sections. According to circuit length,
between six and ten cars may compete at once. Cars compete against the
clock in qualification heats, then against each other in finals.
One category is devoted to 1600cc two-wheel
drive cars, but rallycross is still a relatively expensive sport, and most
competitors use specially prepared cars brought on trailers.
Minimum requirements
A car with added safety equipment (rollcage,
fire extinguishers, fireproofing, etc) and an MSA Vehicle Log Book; crash
helmet and flame-resistant overalls. You must be at least 16 years old
and hold a valid MSA Competition
Licence.
