The layout and operation of service areas will be radically different this year. During the last two years the quality of service areas has become almost as important as the special stages to the image of an event. The other events in the World Championship are putting a great deal of effort into their operation.

This year we have selected larger areas for use by the rally and a number of the locations will be used twice on one day. To ensure that these areas are properly managed a large increase in manpower will be required with up to 60 marshals needed at each location. Specific sites will again be marked out for the leading teams and marshals will be appointed to look after each of these teams to escort the cars to their location and liaise with them.

It is intended that we offer a much more personal and helpful service to all competitors in these areas. Interim results will be issued at each of these areas and will be distributed to teams in the area as well as to the crews at the Time Control. Only Service vehicles will be permitted access to these areas with the Media and Management vehicles parking in a separate but adjacent area.
