After Special Stage 19...

Colin McRae has been forced to retire from the rally with engine trouble. Co-driver Nicky Grist said when they arrived at the service area after SS19 there was a rattle in the engine and when the team's engineer carried out various tests he found the engine was down on power.

McRae's departure put Richard Burns into a lead of 14 seconds over Carlos Sainz.

The spectator trouble which caused Stage 19 to be stopped briefly means the rally is now running 27 minutes late.
