Sunday Special Stages

SS1+11+26 - NETWORK Q CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE

Surface: tarmac & gravel

The Cheltenham stage provides the start and finish of Sunday's action. Early birds are invited to take a grandstand seat at Britain's premier National Hunt racecourse to watch the stars of world rallying kick start their 1997 Network Q RAC Rally campaigns as they set off around the 2.4-mile circuit in the natural Cotswolds amphitheatre from 07.30 on Sunday.

For fans who enjoy the glare of night rallying, Stage 11 is an absolute must. Drivers will be returning to complete Sunday's action, going all out over the final stage of the day (the first stage run in reverse), which comes to a dramatic finale right under the noses of the grandstand spectators.

Stage 26 on Tuesday afternoon is the Grand Finale to this year's three-day Network Q RAC Rally, as survivors return to Cheltenham to complete their epic adventure. Following a similar route to Stage 11, cars come to a dramatic halt in full view of the packed grandstands. Complemented by the prize ceremony, this stage promises an emotion-packed evening's entertainment.

Location: Cheltenham Racecourse is on the A435 Evesham Road, 5 miles from M5 junction 1, 30 miles from M4 junction 15, and 40 miles from M40 junction 8.

Admission: Sat & Sun - GBP8 per adult, GBP1 per child (15 and under). Tues - GBP8 per adult, children free. Car parking (follow signs at venue) free with ticket purchase.

SS2 - BLENHEIM

Surface: tarmac

Using the magnificent backdrop of Blenheim Palace and its wonderful surrounding parkland, the Blenheim stage promises fantastic spectating with no shortage of dramatic action. Starting from Blenheim's breathtaking Bladon Bridge, the stage makes full use of the Palace's valley setting, featuring a number of fast sweeping bends as drivers travel up and down steep slopes on their way to a fast finish.

Location: Blenheim Palace lies on the A44, between Oxford and Chipping Norton, 10 miles from M40 junctions 8 and 9.

Admission: GBP8 per adult, GBP1 per child (15 and under). Car parking free with ticket purchase.

SS3+4 - SILVERSTONE

Surface: tarmac & gravel

Silverstone's special stages 3 & 4 present an intriguing test for drivers, combining the pristine tarmac surfaces of the Grand Prix, International and Stowe circuits with gravel service roads inside the circuit. The stage includes a special slalom section in front of the hospitality boxes at Brooklands and some very fast spectacular bends. Drivers will each complete the stage twice.

SS8 - SILVERSTONE SUPERSPECIAL

Surface: gravel

The classic 'head to head' confrontation over the 1.21-mile course of side-by-side speed action, where every fraction of a second will prove crucial. Entry to this fantastic spectacle will be FREE to the first 6,000 spectators to book for stages 3 & 4.

SS5+6 - MILLBROOK PROVING GROUND

Surface: tarmac

This will be the first time Millbrook Proving Ground has opened its doors to such a high-profile event and the route of the special stage promises a spectacular inauguration. Boasting an awesome 3.5-mile asphalt stage built around the venue's intricate and demanding hill roads, spectators will enjoy non-stop breathtaking action. Unfortunately, to keep traffic manageable at the venue, tickets must be limited to 6,000.

Location: Millbrook is 6 miles from M1 junction 13, off the A421 towards Bedford.

Admission: GBP8 per adult, GBP1 per child (15 and under). Car parking free with ticket purchase.

SS7 - BEECHDALE SAAB WOBURN

The majestic Woburn Abbey forms the centrepiece for this engaging stage. After three 90-degree turns at the start, the stage offers the opportunity for drivers to really open up their high-powered cars around the back of the abbey, over Chambers Bridge and down towards the tricky 'Tony Mason Pond' complex (named after the Ford Escort of Peter Clarke/Tony Mason careered dramatically into the water in 1971), to a fast finish.

Location: Woburn Abbey lies on the A4012 and is signposted from Junctions 12 and 13 of the M1 and from the A5 between Bletchley and Dunstable.
