                     Silverstone Switchboard Submerged

                     by Unprecedented Rush for Tickets

The rush to buy tickets in advance for first day's action of the 1997
Network Q RAC Rally has risen to such a level that the previously
invincible Silverstone Switchboard operation (countless Grands Prix
successfully under the belt of five professional telephonists) has had to
be doubled in order to cope with the demand. In the rush it has become
apparent that a number of bookers have failed to get through: organisers
are adamant that no-one should be left disappointed and are happy to
confirm that tickets will be available "on the door" at all six venues on
Sunday, November 23, including the spectacular action at state-of-the-art
testing facility, Millbrook.

The Network Q RAC Rally has moved south this year for the first time in
over a decade and thousands of previously disenfranchised rally enthusiasts
have been dialing their appreciation for the change. On Sunday, November
23, six different venues (Cheltenham Racecourse, Blenheim Palace,
Silverstone, Millbrook, Woburn Abbey and Donington) will play host to
eleven 'spectator-friendly' special stages. Scintillating world class rally
action will combine with sensational landscapes, landmark motorsport venues
and the pride of English Heritage to produce a memorable first day's
entertainment.

The three day Network Q RAC Rally is the finale to this year's 14 round FIA
World Rally Championship and following Colin McRae's win in the penultimate
round of the Championship in Australia, the tense "down to the wire"
scenario between McRae and current World Champion, Tommi Makinen, has
triggered the imagination of the British public. Denys Rohan, Chief
Executive of Silverstone Circuits Ltd commented:

"Having previously coped with the enormous ticket demand we experience
yearly for the British Grand Prix, we thought out team was well set up to
manage the Network Q RAC Rally. We have been overwhelmed by the level of
advance ticket purchases."

Silverstone's advance ticket sales for the event closed on Friday, November
14, but the hotline number is still open for all the latest stage
information.
